The Manufacturing industry in Ireland deteriorated in December 2007 for the first time in 52 months, This was annouced today by the NCB Purchasing Managers' Index.
The December information showed that there was a moderate fall in new order volumes at Irish companies, this is due to greater competition and a deterioration in demand. New business was broadly unchanged compared to November.
Manufacturers buying declined last month for the first time since 2005 due to reduce new order volumes and lower production needs.
Staffing levels also fell marginally last month.
